IN BETWEEN THE HORIZON è una performance che ruota intorno all'idea dell'orizzonte, inteso come confine tra il noto e l'ignoto, ed esplora il dualismo tra il restare e l'andarsene. Performance creata per BRAL024, Biennal of Resilience, Art and Landscape sull'isola Asinara, luogo unico, che unisce il passato carcerario e il presente di una natura incontaminata è il palcoscenico perfetto per una riflessione sull'orizzonte come richiamo alla fuga, simbolo di liberazione, ma al contempo come elemento che trattiene, ancorando chi lo osserva a una realtà che non può essere facilmente superata.

La nostra ricerca artistica si è concentrata su queste due forze contrastanti, il desiderio di superare i confini e la consapevolezza che, talvolta, tali limiti sono ineluttabili. La tensione tra il voler evadere e l’essere costretti a rimanere è al cuore del lavoro. L'elemento naturale, in particolare l'acqua, che inaspettatamente ha invaso il nostro spazio di lavoro dopo una notte di pioggia, ha aggiunto una dimensione imprevista e affascinante alla performance in cui figure femminili letteralmente emergono dal paesaggio rappresentando il desiderio di sollevarsi, di sfuggire alle costrizioni dell'isola, ma anche la forza della terra e del loro destino che le trattiene. Ogni movimento delle performer è un atto di liberazione che si scontra con le radici della terra.

A fare da sfondo, le installazioni di Elisabetta Bianchessi, composte da linee di fili blu e cocci bianchi di ceramica, disegnano orizzonti possibili. Questi elementi visivi si intrecciano con la performance, suggerendo altrettante possibilità di fuga e di ancoraggio, creando una tensione tra il sogno di un nuovo orizzonte e l’impossibilità di abbandonarsi ad esso.

IN BETWEEN THE HORIZON è un invito a percorrere il nostro orizzonte personale, un percorso tra il bisogno di sfuggire e l’inevitabilità di rimanere. Un viaggio emotivo, dove l'orizzonte non è solo un luogo fisico, ma uno spazio interiore di continua ricerca di equilibrio tra desiderio e realtà.

IN BETWEEN THE HORIZON is a performance centered around the idea of the horizon, understood as the boundary between the known and the unknown, and explores the dualism between staying and leaving. Created for BRAL024, Biennal of Resilience, Art and Landscape, on the island of Asinara, a unique place that blends a history of incarceration with the present of untamed nature, serves as the perfect stage for a reflection on the horizon as a call to escape, a symbol of liberation, while at the same time, an element that holds, anchoring those who observe it to a reality that cannot be easily surpassed.

Our artistic research has focused on these two opposing forces: the desire to overcome boundaries and the awareness that, at times, such limits are inevitable. The tension between the will to escape and the compulsion to stay is at the heart of the work. The natural element, particularly water, which unexpectedly flooded our workspace after a night of rain, added an unforeseen and fascinating dimension to the performance. In this setting, female figures literally emerge from the landscape, symbolizing the desire to rise, to break free from the constraints of the island, yet also the strength of the land and their destiny that holds them back. Every movement of the performers is an act of liberation that collides with the roots of the earth.

Serving as the backdrop are the installations of Elisabetta Bianchessi, composed of lines of blue threads and white ceramic shards, sketching possible horizons. These visual elements intertwine with the performance, suggesting multiple possibilities for both escape and anchoring, creating a tension between the dream of a new horizon and the impossibility of fully surrendering to it.

IN BETWEEN THE HORIZON is an invitation to navigate our personal horizon, a journey between the need to escape and the inevitability of remaining. An emotional journey, where the horizon is not just a physical place but an inner space of continuous search for balance between desire and reality.
